La leyenda de este grado Templario, versa sobre Hiram y el Templo de Salomón. Los atributos más característicos demuestran que está íntimamente relacionado con la astronomía.
Se instruye a la recipiendiaria sobre las fases de la luna, sobre el movimiento de las estrellas y el curso aparente del sol.
La instrucción del grado relata cómo la candidata, guiada por la voluntad de Adonai, busca derribar al coloso de Moloch, símbolo del fanatismo y del sacrificio humano.
En su sentido moral, este grado enseña la necesidad de extirpar la superstición y promover el triunfo de la verdad mediante la acción justa y equilibrada de los poderes que rigen la sociedad y el espíritu.


Meditación
Su meditación es el candelabro de siete brazos.
The twenty third degree is called Chief of the Tabernacle. It was instituted after vengeance had been taken upon the murderers of H ∴ A ∴ B ∴, and the lessons sought to be inculcated are to avoid cowardice and envy.
The lodge is hung in White, oramented with red and black columns arranged alternately. In the east ois a candelabra of five branches, forming a pyramid; in the west there is one of two. The Brethren are clothed in White robes. Above it is a worn red scarf with gold fringes; at the foot hangs a censer, which is suspended from a black ribbon.
The President wears a red robe, over which is a shorter yellow one without sleeves. His scarf is black, fringed with silver, from which is suspended a poignard, attached with red ribbon. On his head he wears a Levitical mitre. He is supported by two officers who wear the same dress.
